One of Yorkshire’s best known retail outlet businesses is “wishing all well” at a Harrogate hospice, with the promise of regular donations from its very own wishing well.
The Darley Mill Centre, which has recently undergone a total transformation by new owner Ross Leventhal, is donating every penny and pound dropped into the on-site wishing well by its customers to St Michael’s Hospice.
Ross, who also heads the highly-successful Yorkshire Linen Company, said: “People who drop their coins into the well to make a wish, will often do so as it is just loose change they can spare. However, collectively, the coins can potentially mount up to quite large amounts.
“We have decided to nominate St Michael’s Hospice as the recipient of the wishing well’s proceeds. Our head office is located very close to the hospice and it’s a charity that many people in the Harrogate district will be very familiar with.
“Now every time a customer stops to make a wish at The Darley Mill Centre, they will be helping the charity continue the wonderful work it does in caring for so many people from the district.”
Hannah Webster, St Michael’s Hospice community fund-raiser, said: “We are very grateful to Ross and the team at the Darley Mill Centre for choosing the Hospice. The wishing well is a great asset to the Mill and we wish them all well too.”
Located on the edge of Harrogate near Menwith Hill, the Darley Mill Centre boasts three retail floors, restaurant and tearooms and has created 25 full and part-time jobs for the local area.
